Prepare the Base

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mirror:
    • Clean the mirror surface and frame thoroughly.
    • Use masking tape to cover the mirror area to protect it from adhesive and grout.
  2. Plan Your Design:
    • Lay out your mosaic tiles around the mirror frame to plan your design.
    • You can use a pencil to lightly sketch the design on the frame.
  3. Cutting the Tiles:
    • If needed, use tile nippers to cut tiles into desired shapes and sizes. Wear safety glasses and gloves for protection.
  4. Adhering the Tiles:
    • Apply a small amount of adhesive to the back of each tile.
    • Press the tiles firmly onto the frame according to your design. Leave a small gap between tiles for grout.
  5. Let It Dry:
    • Allow the adhesive to dry completely, usually 24 hours.
  6. Grouting:
    • Mix the grout according to the package instructions.
    • Spread the grout over the tiles, pushing it into the gaps using a squeegee or your fingers (wear gloves).
    • Wipe off excess grout with a damp sponge. Be careful not to remove grout from between the tiles.
  7. Cleaning:
    • After about 30 minutes, when the grout starts to set, use a damp sponge to clean the tile surfaces again.
    • Once the grout is fully dry (check the manufacturer's instructions), buff the tiles with a dry cloth to remove any grout haze.
  8. Grout Sealer(Optional):
    • Apply a grout sealer to protect the grout from stains and moisture.
  9. Remove Masking Tape:
    • Carefully remove the masking tape from the mirror surface.
  10. Finishing Touches:
  • Clean the mirror and frame to remove any remaining adhesive or grout residue.
Your mosaic mirror is now complete and ready to be displayed!
